Belonging to the same family since its construction in 1341, this fortified castle was enlarged in the 16th and 18th centuries to become today a very welcoming Historical Monument, furnished and decorated with refinement.
King Louis XI stayed there in 1463 and Louis XIV erected the estate in viscounty in 1654. In the XIXth century, Soult then Wellington passed there during the Napoleonic wars.
Its location 3 kilometers from Saint-Jean-de-Luz and 9 kilometers from Spain makes it a privileged place whose charm and historical richness encourage visitors to visit.
Château d’Urtubie has a 6 hectare park, very flowered in spring and summer.
Exhibition in the 18th century orangery on “The benefits of plants from the Basque Country and their essential oils”.
